We are down to the wire. The car is packed, literally, and we leave home tomorrow morning. Fred gets stuck with the heavy lifting and fitting boxes & bags onto the car like a jigsaw puzzle. His newest passion is the collecting and smoking of fine cigars. There is a smoke shop in Walnut Creek where he has spent a good amount of time and $. He just ordered a beautiful new humidor to hold his cigars on the boat. It has an electric humidifier and works like a champ.
Thank goodness we have a station wagon. I can't help over-packing. At some point during the trip we are usually glad I did. It's funny but the clothing that gets the hardest wear are jeans and those are not easy to replace. You can get any kind of souvenir
but jeans, not so much.
Merlin has been watching me warily all day. He is wondering if he is off to Happy Hound www.happyhound.com or gets to go on a road trip. He loves riding in the car so much that he will try and jump into any auto with an open door if given a chance. He will definitely be the happiest one during the drive.
