Fred made banana coconut pancakes for
breakfast. Yum. About noon we had an amazing thing happen. We heard
what sounded like a whale spouting. Sure enough we look around we saw
five orcas!! There was one very small fluke so we think he was
traveling with mom. They stayed and either played or fed in the
rapids coming from Hopetown Passage. In the early afternoon we saw a
line of boats heading to our own private anchorage. Then we looked
again and saw Carlinda in the group. Turns out is a contingent of the
Fidalgo Yacht Club (Anacortes). We became honorary members when we saw a
group in Port McNeill a week ago. Since the anchorage is small we
offered to have one of them raft to us. The first was Carlinda. Then
we offered for another boat to come up on the other side. So we had
Carlinda and L'Espirit with us. The other three rafted together nearby
(Dolphin, Otava & Quadra). We hosted happy hour on our boat since
is is the biggest. We had a wonderful time. This folks are great to be
around. We will probably join the yacht club.
